Miguel Melero and Jesús Ruiz Zurita won the men’s title at the September 2025 FIP Bronze in Koh Samui, while Kátia Rodrigues Santos and Helena Machado Ribeiro took the women’s crown. Both leading pairs needed three sets in their finals before completing the tournament as champions.

Melero and Ruiz Zurita won 6–3, 3–6, 6–2. Santos and Ribeiro prevailed 7–6, 2–6, 7–5. The event ran from 25 to 28 September, and FIP had identified both partnerships as the top seeds before competition began.

The men’s final changes direction

The men’s scoreline records a final in which the eventual winners took the opening set, lost the second and then recovered control of the result in the third. The 6–2 deciding set completed the title, but reaching that point required Melero and Ruiz Zurita to respond after their initial advantage had disappeared.

A set won and a set lost leave a partnership with a fresh task. The match is level, yet both pairs have already learned something about the opposition and the conditions of the contest. The deciding set asks them to use that information while maintaining the coordination on which their game depends.

The score alone does not show exactly where the tactical changes occurred. What it does establish is the sequence of the result: an opening lead, an opposing response and a successful final set for Melero and Ruiz Zurita. Their title came through that three-stage contest. The final set also gave the partnership a clearer winning margin than either of the two sets that preceded it.

For a top-seeded pair, the finish also converts pre-tournament expectation into an achieved result. Seedings describe a position in the draw. Winning the event requires the partnership to navigate the matches that follow, including the final challenge from the other surviving pair.

A narrow finish in the women’s competition

Santos and Ribeiro’s women’s final began with a tiebreak set, followed by a 2–6 second set that took the match to a decider. The final 7–5 set made the difference, securing the title after another close passage of play.

That sequence gave the eventual champions two sets won by narrow margins, with the second set going the other way more clearly. It illustrates why the full match result matters more than the impression created by one stretch. A difficult middle set did not prevent Santos and Ribeiro from winning the set that decided the trophy.

Close deciding sets place weight on ordinary points as well as memorable ones. Service games must be managed, returns put into play and positional decisions made with the same shared understanding as earlier in the match. The pressure changes, while the basic work of the partnership continues.

The 7–5 finish supplied the final answer for the women’s draw. Santos and Ribeiro joined Melero and Ruiz Zurita as Samui’s champions, with both top-seeded partnerships having been pushed into a third set.

A reference for later island tournaments

The September 2025 results form part of Samui’s established FIP record. The island went on to host further international competition in 2026, so the later calendar rests alongside an identifiable earlier edition with documented winners and final scores.

For local followers, that continuity offers a way to connect different tournaments without merging them. Each edition has its own field and title race. The 2025 event’s particular character came from the two finals and the leading pairs’ ability to complete them successfully.

The champions’ results also provide a clear sporting story for anyone encountering the event later. Both finals reached a deciding set, both winning pairs had to respond to a second-set defeat, and both converted their place at the top of the draw into a trophy. At Samui, expectation became achievement only after the final set was won.
