The Thai Padel Series Phuket Open returned to Padel Phuket @ Blue Tree from 1 to 3 May 2026. The organiser’s programme listed seven categories, placing another domestic-circuit weekend at a venue with experience of APPT and FIP events as well as Thai Padel Series competition.

For Phuket’s players, the event offered a familiar location with a fresh draw. For travelling pairs, it provided another reason to bring their partnership to the island and compare their level with opponents outside their regular clubs.

A venue used to tournament weekends

Blue Tree’s repeated appearance across calendars makes it a recognisable point in Thailand’s padel map. The site hosted the APPT Thailand Open in 2024, an APPT Phuket Open in February 2025 and a FIP Bronze in June that year. The May 2026 Thai Padel Series stop belongs alongside those separate events.

That history does not make the competitions interchangeable. Each organiser brings its own categories, entries and ranking conditions. What carries across the timeline is the venue’s role as a place where different groups of players have competed.

The 2026 event page described six courts, with four indoor and two outdoor. That is the organiser’s description attached to this edition, rather than a permanent statement about every later configuration of the club. For the tournament, the practical sporting reference was the schedule assigning matches to the available courts.

Players familiar with a venue may feel comfortable in the setting, but comfort is only one part of performance. A new opponent can still disrupt the pair’s preferred game and force an adjustment. The home club advantage, where it exists, has to be converted into sound decisions during play.

Seven categories widen the field of stories

A seven-category programme creates several competitive paths. Different groups of players can pursue appropriate opponents and a meaningful result within the same event, making the weekend broader than one professional title race.

For an amateur pair, the first task is often to reproduce its regular level under tournament pressure. A familiar shot can feel less automatic when the score determines progression, and a partnership may discover that communication becomes more important as the match tightens.

More experienced pairs face another version of the challenge. Opponents may recognise their patterns, defend their strongest shots or try to isolate one player. Maintaining an advantage then requires patience and variation alongside technical quality.

The event brings those different levels into the same surrounding community. Players can follow friends in another category or watch a stronger pair handle a situation they recognise from their own games. The tournament becomes both a direct test and a chance to observe the sport more closely.

A point in the May calendar

The Phuket Open took place at the beginning of May, before the month’s FIP events on Samui and Phangan. Those later competitions belonged to a different circuit, but together the dates show several opportunities for organised padel in southern Thailand during the same period.

For a player, choosing among events depends on level, eligibility and the kind of competition being sought. A domestic category event can provide a useful target in its own right, without needing to be presented as an automatic qualifying route into an international draw.

The value of a weekend at Blue Tree is therefore specific to the partnership entering it. A strong run can show that a pair’s preparation is working, while a defeat may reveal a clear area to improve before another tournament. Both outcomes provide information when they are understood through the match itself.

The May 2026 Phuket Open continued Blue Tree’s role as a regular competition setting. Its seven-category programme gave the players several ways to take part, and the fresh draw ensured that a familiar venue still produced new sporting questions. The answers came through the partnerships and the results they earned over the three-day event.
