Beyond 25,000 Clubs: What Global Padel Growth Means for Thailand
Padel has moved well beyond the 25,000-club mark.

Padel has moved well beyond the 25,000-club mark. In its Olympic Day statement on June 23, 2026, the International Padel Federation reported 27,000 clubs, 85,000 courts and 38 million players across 178 countries and territories.
Those figures give Thailand a place in a much larger story. They also describe different things: a club may have several courts, while a player count says little about how often those players return.
Growth needs a local translation
For a Thai club, the useful question is what happens after somebody tries padel. Can they find three suitable partners, book at a workable time and afford to come back? A busy opening weekend answers only the first part.
Lessons, organised games and a host who remembers a newcomer’s level can turn that first visit into a routine. The social side matters because doubles needs more coordination than simply finding an empty court.
Count the right thing
Global totals provide scale, not a forecast for Thai demand. Local comparisons need consistent definitions of clubs, courts and active players, as well as a clear period for measuring repeat visits.
A new court is visible evidence of investment. A player who books again next month is evidence of something else: the sport has begun to fit into everyday life.
