Sergio Icardo and Jordi Casanova won the men’s title at the APPT Grand Slam Platinum Hong Kong, defeating Sergi Nogueras and Valentino Acosta Kremnitzer 6–4, 7–5 in the final. Carla Serrano and Patricia Ribeiro completed the professional women’s programme with a 6–3, 6–2 victory over Joanna Tao Yee Tan and Elisabeth Nogueras.
The 17–19 April 2026 event was held at PADEL+ in Sai Kung. Its published results show a weekend in which the eventual men’s champions survived a three-set quarterfinal before winning both of their final-day matches in straight sets.
Icardo and Casanova overcame Martin Ariel Andornino and Carlos Marti 3–6, 7–6, 7–5 in that quarterfinal. They then defeated Eduard Altimires and Adria Mercadal 6–2, 7–5 in the semifinal, securing the place they converted into the title later on Sunday.
The difficult route to a composed finish
The quarterfinal gives the winning run an important piece of context. A partnership that ultimately wins a straight-set final may still have come very close to leaving the tournament earlier. In this case, the opening set went against the champions and both remaining sets stayed close to the finish.
Recovering from that position is a different challenge from defending a lead. The pair must continue believing that its decisions can work while the scoreboard offers less reassurance. There is also little room to wait passively for a match to change when another lost set would end the tournament.
The later results show that Icardo and Casanova carried their opportunity forward. They did not need a deciding set in either the semifinal or the final, but both matches contained a 7–5 set. The close margins remained part of the task even when the number of sets became smaller.
The women’s final has its own story
Serrano and Ribeiro’s final score gave them a clear finish against Tan and Nogueras. The women’s champions completed the match in two sets, creating another recognisable result for followers who track those names across the regional circuit.
For amateur women watching from Thailand, the value of following a professional partnership often lies in continuity. Seeing the same pair at several events makes it easier to notice how they organise the court and distribute responsibility. A single highlight can show a winner; a run of matches reveals how a partnership builds enough opportunities to produce one.
The published score establishes the outcome without supplying every tactical explanation. It is still a useful starting point for following Serrano and Ribeiro into their next competition and comparing how a different draw tests them.
More than the leading professional draw
Hong Kong’s event also included amateur competition. In the men’s amateur final, Markus Henne and Andre Peres defeated Jack Cruz and Vince Serna 6–2, 7–5. That result gives the weekend another level of participation, with its own finalists and a trophy earned outside the professional category.
The distinction matters for a regional tour that attracts several standards of player. A travelling amateur pair needs a competition in which its progress can be meaningful. Sharing an event setting with professionals can add interest, but the amateur draw remains a sporting contest in its own right.
For Thai pairs considering similar tournaments, Hong Kong offers a practical example of how one weekend can contain different ambitions. Some players arrive to challenge for professional titles; others want to test an established club partnership against unfamiliar opposition. Both depend on a suitable category and the ability to compete effectively with a partner.
The April Platinum event ultimately belongs to its results: Icardo and Casanova finding a way through a difficult quarterfinal and finishing with the men’s title, Serrano and Ribeiro winning the women’s final, and Henne and Peres leading the men’s amateur draw. Those outcomes give Hong Kong a precise place in the APPT season.
