A new padel court is ready for its opening photograph. Who is ready to organise the school group coming next Tuesday? That question is where Thai padel could learn something useful from badminton.

A first lesson needs an organiser, an understandable introduction and a route back. Without those, a successful demonstration can remain a pleasant afternoon that nobody manages to repeat.

Prepare the people who make the introduction

BWF’s Shuttle Time programme offers one example. In an October 2023 account from Bulgaria, BWF described teacher courses, translated resources and coordination through the national badminton federation. More than 400 teachers had been trained over two years.

The idea worth considering in Thailand is practical: give teachers and community organisers enough preparation to introduce the game, then connect them with clubs that can host their groups.

Introducing an activity and coaching it professionally require different levels of preparation. A short teacher course would need clear limits and appropriate supervision.

Put the second visit in the diary

Before the first session ends, a group should know when it can return, who will arrange the visit and what it will cost. Schools need predictable access; clubs need manageable group sizes; families need clear information about equipment and supervision.

Padel also needs its own enclosed court. A school badminton space cannot simply become a padel facility, so travel and court availability belong in the plan from the start.

A small partnership could track returning participants and ask teachers and families what made attendance easy or difficult. That would offer a useful local test before making wider promises.

Badminton’s example gives Thai padel a sensible sequence: prepare the organisers, make the first game enjoyable and give the next one a place in the calendar.
